Latest TV: Creator and cast member Stuart Weafer on his show Making It Big

Making It Big isn’t just another reality show: it’s a true glimpse into a group of real friends, each one of us with a unique story and tie to being part of the LGBT community. The nine part series aims to showcase struggles with coming of age and coming out in Ireland and Britain today, as well as showcasing the city we decided to set up in, Barcelona.  

I decided to create the show because I really didn’t see enough reality shows with a variety of LGBT personalities. Whilst filming we definitely did have some disagreements, and you will see that, and the personal drama most people have come to expect from a reality tv show. But I also captured some very real and raw moments. You will see the realisation and coming out of one the cast, while having us all revisit and look back on our own coming out stories and sexuality struggles.

As the series now moves into its second half, you get to see some more of Spain’s beautiful locations as we travel, a real insight into the Barcelona scene with Pride and the focus shifts to some serious topics with issues about domestic abuse, depression and death.
