Frankie Ballard

Americana and Country Music pin up boy, Frankie Ballard, injected a serious dose of ’80s rock cool into his blues inspired set last night. The small, loud, dedicated crowd were mesmerised by this talented, gritty voiced Nashville based singer/songwriter, with James Dean swagger and his quick draw lead guitarists spiralling arpeggios. We sang along to every word from newest album El Rio, including ‘Good as Gold’ and timeless classics like ‘Sunshine and Whisky’. Needless to say, Frankie’s not everyone’s choice of bourbon, but Concorde 2 revellers couldn’t get enough of him. When one shouted ‘We love you Frankie’, the wild applauds showed this was a sentiment shared by all.
