Punel Show

Comedians Darren Walsh and Mark Simmons play host to this pun-tastic afternoon show, joined by competing panellists/comedians Dan Evans and Brian Gittins. The format is simple, and the delivery of the format is full of engaging multimedia whizz-bangs demonstrating that there is no such thing as too much effort in the pursuit of a punchline. Which is great, because there are so many here, and the delight with which they’re served up is palpable and contagious. Walsh and Simmons make a complimentary combo, with Simmons’ anarchic enjoyment of tangents highly great fun and Walsh’s pedantry bubbling under as he carefully steers the show back on track. Evans and Gittins were game at joining in, as were the audience, but this was the hosts’ show with every sound effect, mime, picture board and piece of headwear. An hour of sheer fun – which is something we all delight in.
