Jane Postlethwaite: The House

The House is a one-woman twisted tale of revenge. Jane Postlethwaite’s off key characters include a falconer and darkly cynical children’s book author, Joy Hope, who is neither hopeful, nor joyful. The audience are in every way involved. Some men enjoyed their participation a bit too much, evoking lots of awkward laughter. We’re privy to the dark secrets which reside in Derwent Island House, Cumbria. It’s funnier because the house is real, owned by the National Trust. The show is very funny in parts, but at times disjointed. It’s good material, just needs some tweaking. Nonetheless Jane is a charming northern lass and the audience loved her.
