Witt ‘n’ Camp

With a skill set that includes opera singing (of urban and rap music), dancing, and sketch comedy – and an attitude that warns you not to mess – Witt ‘n’ Camp present a tightly directed showcase of their talents playing with the absurd and engagingly unafraid to switch from the sexy to the ridiculous. Both women use their physicality well, whether it’s dancing, fighting or loving, committing to each move as much as they do to a spoken line, and finding as many punchlines. We saw polygamous chickens, bolshy police, sparring singers, and a strip that stuck to the letter of the definition of ‘burlesque’ as it brought a chuckle with its on trend switcheroo. With a finale that didn’t feel quite clear as to what it was saying, Witt ‘n’ Camp serve up a performance that frames their talents well and holds interesting ideas, but didn’t always feel as smooth as it could’ve been in its transitions.
