Mrs Hoover’s Fond Farewell

Martyn is a believable incarnation of Mrs Hoover, a little old lady who holds tight to British values and the perfect cup of tea. She voted us out of Europe, but regrets – rebrex-it. She’s a bit like a British Dame Edna. Her funny faux pas are as much a part of this quirky act as the double meanings and word play.

She pokes fun at foreign students, while simultaneously showing the idiosyncrasies of being British. The ‘up for it’ audience, with lots of international students, brought the show to life, singing loudly along to Mrs Hoover’s silly songs, cheering, clapping, chuckling and giving a proper send off to this witty caricature of bygone Britain.
