Silent disco sparks initiative to clean up city

More than a quarter of a ton, or two hundred and eighty kilos, of rubbish was collected by volunteers on Brighton beach during a silent disco.

A new campaign launched by Brighton & Hove City Council and Hububub UK aims to encourage residents, businesses and tourists to act and reduce the amount of litter in the city.

Friday’s event sprung the campaign into action as volunteers got their gloves on, their bags ready, and their head phones turned up for what was Brighton’s first silent disco beach clean up.
