HMV set to return to Churchill Square

HMV is set to return to the Churchill Square shopping centre just nine months after leaving it.

The high street giant will move into the space left by BHS which has been empty since August 2016.

The music store moved out of its position inside Brighton’s shopping centre in January citing increased costs.  The space is now occupied by Victoria Secret.

HMV has said it will re-open later this month.

HMV operations director, Neil Taylor, said: “We are delighted to be opening a new HMV store back in Churchill Square…We look forward to opening our doors very soon.

“Brighton has been home to some of the UK’s best loved music acts including Fatboy Slim and Rizzle Kicks.

“Its long lasting ties to the arts means it’s a perfect fit for HMV the home of entertainment.”

News that the former BHS site is being filled will help boost the city’s economy.

HMV bosses have not yet said how much of the BHS store the record shop will occupy.

Work has already begun on the store, although an exact opening date is yet to be announced.
