John Bishop – Winging It Tour

Returning to the stand up arena after a hiatus, John Bishop’s funny bones were still in evidence, if occasionally not rising to the surface as readily as before. At his strongest, Bishop was on form connecting with the entire audience as he spoke from the heart, scattering machine gun punchlines in amongst stories of his mates, family, life and his kids flying the nest – the ‘joys’ of turning fifty being a particular highlight. It was when he ventured into less popular territory that he came unstuck and began to feel more like showing off, hobnobbing with the Royal Family and his celebrity pals. Good for Bish fans but unlikely to win him new ones.
