Nadine Shah
With new record ‘Holiday Destination’ a blistering attack on Brexit Britain and anti-immigrant feeling, witnesses to British-Pakistani-Norwegian Nadine Shah’s live return were privy to one of those moments where a good performer becomes a great one. Seamlessly blending the personal with the political, all with an impossible to resist pop-rock sensibility, Shah’s husky vocals contrasted oddly with her affable persona, making for an endearing and versatile stage presence. Obvious influences, from Nick Cave to Afrobeat, were thrown together nicely as the most obvious comparison, PJ Harvey, came through with Out The Way’s booming sax swagger a fitting end to the tour.
