Action! Combining your comedy fix with your movie addiction – Comedians Cinema Club
What do you get when comedians fall in love with film? Fantastically, you get Comedians Cinema Club – a show for comedy and film fans who like riotous improvisation and a relaxed atmosphere. Already running residencies in London and Los Angeles, Brighton’s Komedia is the third home for this ingenious meeting of celluloid inspiration and sharpened comedy skills. Already running monthly, from 2018 the night will find a regular home on the last Wednesday of each month in the North Laine comedy hub.
Arrive at CCC and baggsy yourself a prime spot with your pals for the first half of the show – a fabulous frivolous film quiz to get you in the mood and to introduce you to the comedy players for the evening. Past performers have included Eric Lampaert, Matthew Highton, Eleanor Morton, Joz Norris and improv behemoths The Noise Next Door, as well as other special guests such as Dan Screiber (No Such Thing as a Fish) and Brighton CCC director Laura Lexx – a great calibre of fun.
Prepare yourself for the raucous anarchy
Then, prepare yourself for the raucous anarchy of the second half – in which the performers re-enact a beloved film classic, bringing all of their comedy instincts into play. With this format, it’s hardly surprising that CCC has proven such a hit already at the likes of Bestival, Latitiude and other popular festivals.
Each performance covers a different beloved film classic, and November’s is a doozey – Coyote Ugly. Strap in! And December’s CCC (Tuesday 19 December, Komedia) is serving up the perfect seasonal treat mash up with Muppets Die Hard.
