BREMF LIVE! – Summer unde winder: songs from medieval Germany – Rumorum

The gittern (an early guitar) looked interesting and the harp and fiddle were clearly not modern. When this talented Swiss ensemble played we were magically taken back centuries to around 1400 and the world of the extraordinary Oswald von Wolkenstein, and back again another 200 year to Neidhart von Reuental. With simple gestures and a pure voice, soprano Grace Newcombe told us of the joys of life. Her expressive narrative style and the thorough programme notes made it all so clear.
