Ghostpoet
It’s been a while since Ghostpoet was saddled with the frankly limiting trip hop tag and he showed here that he has more to offer than originally presented on his early Mercury Prize nominated albums. The hauntingly atmospheric tracks were still performed to a receptive audience but a full band added another dimension to tracks from his latest album – ‘Dark Days and Canapés’ – as well as adding an extra element to some of the older previously stripped back songs. Ghostpoet has definitely evolved as his music has progressed but it is good to see that his dark outlook has kept in step with the times we live in.
