Proud Country House in Stanmer Park launches a new classic dining Restaurant, Source, from 24 November

Source – offering a seasonal British menu with fish, meat and fresh produce sourced from within a 20mile radius – launches on Friday 24th November. Simply and beautifully cooked, and served at a price that is fair for everyone from producer to guest, the quality of Source is matched by the sumptuous surroundings in which it’s served. A stunning, restored Grade 1 listed Georgian country house, Proud Country House sits in acres of unspoilt Sussex countryside. Juxtaposing antiques and reclamation yard finds combine with 70s glamour and modern patterns. Roaring fires and historical touches add a luxury not easily found in Brighton.

Head Chef James Mitchell, who joins Proud Country House after 25 years working in some of the best restaurants in the country including The Savoy Hotel and Hilton Park Lane, is behind this new ‘farm to fork’ offering. Since moving to Brighton, James’ love for his new local area inspired the idea of creating a restaurant which pipes a real fanfare about the produce of the county and offers the people of Sussex their new favourite Brighton haunt.

Enthusiasm for lovingly-made food shines through in the new menu

Some of items you may discover on the autumn menu include pickled and grilled south coast mackerel, beef rib on the bone, game chips with pepper sauce and the very best pork scratchings going. For those after something lighter, there is a menu full of healthy, vegetarian or plant-based options such as the jam-packed wheatberry, roast parsnip, butternut squash and dried cranberry, chicory, watercress and Brighton Blue salad.

For those preferring lighter, informal dining, Source’s Grazing Menu is served in the library and bar 7 days a week for lunch.

Source is available Monday – Thursday (and Sunday) 12 – 4pm and Friday and Saturdays from 12 – 10pm.
