As You Like It
As You Like It is one of Shakespeare’s most interesting plays. It has the right balance of comedy and thought-provoking themes throughout and when done well, it can be a success. This version we saw was set in modern times and despite having a start that had too fast a pace and a confusing use of set, was worth experiencing.
The second half had a lot more to offer with the characters doubling up and the energy being a lot more controlled.
Highlights character-wise were Rosalind, Celia and Jacques equally. In general however, the cast was strong.
