Miss Represented: Can You See Me Now

When people express their lives through performance, it can literally move an audience to tears. This was the effect of ‘Miss Represented – Can You See Me Now’. A hard-hitting show by women who used song, dance and spoken word to tell their personal narrative of life in controlled care. They addressed how mainstream schooling may not work for everyone. How those in authority and social workers can misrepresent, undermine and shame, always thinking they know better, but not always making the right decision for the individual. The girls were incredibly eloquent performers and talented singers. The show was not just a representation of real life, it is real life, making its message all the more vital.
