Shazia Mirza: With Love From St Tropez

Shazia Mirza is an intelligent comic. Few stones are left unturned when she draws on stereotypes for her comic material: Guardian readers, racists, Donald Trump, herself, lesbians, gays and royalty. Her jokes got lots of laughs, but more originality and less rehashing of previous material was needed. Nonetheless, Shazia remains an astute comic and social commentator. The Daily Mail reported on the ‘massacre’ of middle aged white men. Shazia poked fun at the idea of white men being repressed, jibing how she could now send them to the back of the bus like a modern day Rosa Parks. Shazia’s razor-sharp activism and sharp wit was well received by the Brighton audience.
