Tiff Stevenson: Bombshell

Straight-talking feminist comic Tiff Stevenson balanced comedy with crucial political insight. Her contentious confrontation of relevant topics had more urgency than her Mock the Week TV appearances. Tiff broached topics like abortion, the DUP, social inequality, gun laws and the sobering thought that our future relies on Dennis Rodman. Her mockery of how advertisers sell us beauty was mixed with ironic banter about being allowed to put make up on. Describing herself somewhere between Sylvia Plath and Beyoncé is relatively apt. On the face of it shes’s an attractive light hearted entertainer. Tiff successfully sells out as a “bombshell”. Nonetheless her content, like Plath’s, is ultimately tragic with some clever double meaning.
