Brighton Lights: What to do in the city – w/c 24th April
Music, Entertainment & Comedy With Victoria Nangle
1 It’s a veritable festival feeling, with pop-favourites headliners The Vamps supported by HRVY, New Hope Club and Jacob Satrorius. And at such an affordable ticket price it’s a guaranteed good value night out to round off the weekend.
Brighton Centre, Sunday 29 April, 6.30pm, from £13.95
2 Kim Wilde is back in the pop arena touring her 14th studio album – Here Come The Aliens. The multi-award-winning artist, who has sold more than 30 million records worldwide, mixes old favourites with new classics.
White Rock Theatre, Hastings, Tuesday 24 April, 8pm, £5
3 Where better to play at going undercover as a secret agent than slap bang on stage? Skips After School Club offers just that for 6-10 year olds, as this week everyone goes to Secret Agent School. Each session includes warm-up games, a look on stage, themed drama and craft activities and squash and biscuits.
Theatre Royal Brighton, Wednesday 25 April, 4pm, £7.50
4 Quite a remarkable opportunity to hear the story of former England international footballer and football manager Paul Gascoigne in his own words. The night includes a support act in the form of comedian Jed Stone, a raffle, an auction of football memorabilia, the man himself – followed by a Q&A with the audience. Tickets have sold out, but check at the box office for returns.
Pavilion Theatre, Worthing, Friday 27 April, 7pm, £35
5 After swearing off stand-up and touring a couple of years ago, citing family commitments and the strains of constant travelling, Robin Ince is back with his first new show in three years. You may have seen him on mixed comedy bills, or at Christmas time with his Nine Lessons and Carols For Godless People in London, but this is all Ince, talking about the things that infuriate and fascinate him in equal measure. Promising love, death and art (and a bit of physics), and why we believe what we believe.
Ropetackle Centre, Thursday 26 April, 8pm, £15
6 Keeping an eye out for the rising talent, with a proven track record of headline-potting (including Sarah Millican, Seann Walsh, Romesh Ranganathan, Angela Barnes, Hal Cruttenden and many more) Comic Boom has pinpoint accuracy when it comes to booking talent. This month’s top bill spot is taken by Tom Lucy, only 22 years old and already on television, winning awards, and supporting Jack Whitehall in arena gigs. MC’d by firm favourite Barry Ferns, and with an excellent selection of support acts too.
Komedia, Thursday 26 April, 8pm, £10/8/5
