The sun is out! Alright, it might not be out at the precise time you’re reading this but it’s certainly been shining all the more recently and letting us know that this is our Summer, it’s here, and maybe we might want to account for it in our plans. Which is just as well as all manner of interesting outside events are kicking off – not least the launch of Luna Beach Cinema.

Opening ceremony this Thursday kicks off at 3pm, followed by Russia vs Saudi Arabia at 4pm up on the big screen, and then a screening of Jaws at 8pm – poking especial fun at the close proximity of that great wide open sea space nearby. Tickets to this special event are free (except for the booking fee), beckoning you down to try before you buy for the rest of the season’s shows encompassing football, film and the finer racquets of Wimbledon.

The Brighton Open Air Theatre’s season is looking equally tempting, with The Crucible on the horizon – some might say aptly timed considering it’s metaphor for the McCarthyism Communist witch hunts of the 1950s, and a certain division in current politics. Clever stuff. (p9)

And of course we are surrounded by the majesty that is the Downs. The Campaign to fix the South Downs Way trail has made most excellent progress, keeping our pathways in good stead for us to wander through the wide open spaces as the sun shines down and the sea air blows in. (p7)

So enjoy the great outside and all it has to offer – and don’t forget your sun lotion, umbrella, and water bottle. Sorted.
