Gamarjobat – The Shut-Up Comedy from Japan

Gamarjobat are tightly choreographed silliness – practised, spontaneous, flighty, and reliable. This Japanese comedy duo are a mesh of contradictions working together with over a decade of award-winning wordless clowning, bringing their ‘best of’ elements together for this family-aimed show. And it was good enjoyable fun. It just didn’t always feel suitable for the small children and parent combo currently facing them.

A good ‘juvenile’ gag is not always appropropriate for actual juveniles, specifically material that hinged on ‘naughty’ behaviour that although seen as silly by adults crossed a line into inapproiately crude for children.

Put the show on a couple of hours later and flag it as ages 14+ and it would have been a universal hit. As it is, Gamarjobat showed off their talent, if not their judgement.
