Skin

‘Skin’, the latest project for 201 Dance Company, is a synthesis of contemporary dance, urban hip-hop and theatre. With an awesome original glitchy score, the music was evocative, varied and well utilised. The individual dance pieces and the choreography as a whole were well paced. Hip hop signature movements and dance styles are a very expressive narrative dance language in which to tell this tale. The lead dancer, Michael(a) Cisarikova, the protagonist of this transformation story, brings the role to vibrant life. Explosive, beautiful and poignant.
I wept openly, twice.
