BREAKING NEWS: Babes in the Wood finally have justice!

A jury of seven men and five women today found Russell Bishop guilty of the murders of  Nicola Fellows and Karen Hadaway, known as the Babes in the Wood. The families of the two nine-year-olds have waited more than 30-years for justice and today, Monday 10th December they finally have it.

Russell Bishop has finally been brought to justice for a crime he committed more than 30 years ago when he sexually assaulted and strangled two school girls in Wild Park woods. Previously being found not guilty for the Babes in the Wood murders 31 years ago left the 52-year-old pedophile to walk free leading to the attack on another young girl in almost identical circumstances just three years later.

Bishop was found guilty for molestation and attempted murder of a seven-year-old girl from the Whitehawk area of Brighton and was set to serve a life sentence, also being ordered to face a second trial for the Babes in the Wood murders under the new double jeopardy law passed in 2003. This new law meant suspects could be tried for the same crime twice, and advances in DNA and forensic technology meant that Bishop was once again going to be put back on stand, getting justice for Karen and Nicola.

A sweatshirt discarded near the crime scene was linked to Bishop by DNA.
