Weald Action Group Campaigner, Pat Smith, and her 100-mile walk!

Latest TV News Editor, Mark Walker, speaks to Pat Smith from the Weald Action Group. The Weald Action Group is an umbrella organisation for groups across the South East campaigning against the expansion of onshore oil and gas. Dorking grandmother Pat Smith, aged 71, aims to complete her 100-mile fundraising walk today (3rd October, 2020) at the Horse Hill drill-site. It will be day 7 and her final Stop 6 of the Sussex and Surrey sites designated for oil and gas production. She’s raising money for a Judicial Review of Surrey County Council’s decision in September 2019 to allow four new oil wells and 20 years of commercial oil production at this drill-site in Horse Hill, near Gatwick. Pat says, “I’m glad to be coming to the end of my journey – I’m tired, and the weather has definitely taken a turn for the worse! But it’s been a great adventure and I will always remember the wonderful people I met and the support I’ve had”. Mark finds out more.
