Founders of Brighton’s BeFries launch Vegan Mayonnaise range, BeSaucy!
Latest TV News Editor, Mark Walker, speaks to the sibling trio behind much-loved Belgian chip shop BeFries. They have launched a new plant-based condiment range. BeSaucy will be available online and in select stores from Monday 5 July. The initial range comprises three flavours of creamy vegan mayonnaise – garlic, basil and black truffle – each created from a base of aquafaba otherwise destined for waste, organic soya milk and cold-pressed rapeseed oil produced by a family-run farm in the Cotswolds. Mark finds out more. Background: Following the unfortunate closure of Brighton’s BeFries in 2020, an award-winning venue beloved by locals and tourists alike, sibling trio Ezda, Dashal and Chan Beevers used the UK’s lockdown to adapt and develop their business and scale up the production of their vegan mayos. The BeSaucy team believes in offering tasty alternative products that make it easy for consumers to develop more sustainable eating habits. Their mayonnaises come in fully recyclable packaging and the brand aims to be plastic-free by 2022.
