DOG RECEIVES KISS OF LIFE!

Dog back from the dead in Brighton following Kiss of Life from dogwalker!

We have taken care of Hendricks since we started our business back in 2019. He’s a happy chap and loves his walks, however, due to his breed, ourselves and our lovely clients, Christian and Ellie (his mum and dad) are always very careful around certain situations that may be unsafe for him. He is very vulnerable in the heat and will easily over heat in anything above 18degrees.

Despite our best efforts to always keep him safe, back in September 2021 a distressing situation happened.

Hendrix the dog, recovering in bed

Hendricks was out on a walk, the weather was about 15 degrees. We were in our field going about our day like any other when Hendricks suddenly collapsed and stopped breathing. He was walking and playing and in a second he was on the floor lifeless. We rushed over to him. His tongue had turned blue and initially we thought he may have choked if he had tried to be sick, so we swiped the back of his throat with no luck. We quickly began CPR. Something we believe every dog walker and owner should try their best to learn. After several attempts to revive him we were beginning to fear the worst. Luckily, after another desperate attempt and another big breath down his nose he came back to us! It must have been about 30 seconds to a minute but it felt like forever!

He was dazed and a little unaware of what happened, and after getting him in the car and driving him home to a very worried and upset Ellie, she drove him straight to the vets where they confirmed they did not know what the cause was but that he should be seen by a specialist in all things bulldog.

Luckily for us, Christian and Ellie were extremely thankful and didn’t question anything we did or didn’t do, they were just so grateful Hendricks was alive and seemingly unaware of all the drama going on around him! He is now due to be seen by a specialist to see if he needs an operation to avoid another situation like this one happening and he’s very lucky his owners are very quick to address any issues and always make sure he has the best care!
