Brighton Tattoo Convention
For the 13th installment of the Brighton Tattoo Convention, we went along to find out what brings tattoo artists, traders and the ever growing crowds back year after year.
After being called off for two years, the weekend hosted over 350 artists and a whole range of traders and other entertainment. With the convention opening at 11am on the 19th and 20th of February, there were queues around the building as enthusiasts and artists were eager to see what this year had in store for them.
After we entered and got through security, we were greeted by rows of food and drink stalls, barbers, jewellers and just about every other form of artistic expression you can think of. But downstairs was only the tip of the iceberg. As we wandered through the crowds to make our way upstairs, we found ourselves surrounded by hundreds of booths, all decorated and personalised to each individual shops style, making for an exciting walk between the aisles, each turn producing a whole new outlook to tattooing.
Speaking to people in attendance, it was clear to see how important conventions like these are to the world of tattooing, through networking, meeting artists you follow on social media, and socialising with like-minded people, where the wilder the look, the better the reaction.
