The Jubilant & Moving Return of Joni

Anyone who knows Latest’s Andrew Kay will be aware that he has one music hero that he holds above all others, Joni Mitchell. He was in his early teens when he first heard the early recordings of the Canadian folk singer and he was transfixed not only by her extraordinary voice but also by those early songs. That fascination has continued throughout his life and her ability to transform and explore musical forms has made her perhaps the greatest and most inventive song writer of the last 60 years.

Sadly Joni suffered a massive brain aneurysm in 2015 and few thought that she would ever be able to perform again. But fans woke on the 25th of July this year to find the World Wide Web filled with amazing footage of a well kept secret appearance at the Newport Folk Festival.
