Shawshank Staged & The Jive Aces

A brilliant Stephen King short story became a major movie triumph and is now heading to Eastbourne in a stage version, yes, The Shawshank Redemption is pretty high up on most peoples list of favourite movies. Despite protests of his innocence, Andy Dufresne is handed a double life sentence for the brutal murder of his wife and her lover. Incarcerated at the notorious Shawshank facility, he quickly learns that no one can survive alone. This thrilling stage production examines desperation, injustice, friendship and hope behind the claustrophobic bars of a maximum security facility. This new stage version stars Joe Absolom as Andy Dufresne, his impressive TV career has barely seen him off our screens. And Ben Onwukwe who boasts a 30-year stage career and many TV roles sees him as Red.

The Shawshank Redemption is at The Devonshire Park Theatre in Eastbourne from Monday the 26th of September.

Preparations for the 2022 PierFest are now well underway and the line up is looking stellar. Top swing band The Jive Aces head down to Horatio’s Bar on the 24th of September for a set of steaming swing that is bound to get you on your feet and dancing. Our toes are tapping and tap they will when the Jive Aces perform at this year’s PierFest on Brighton Palace Pier which runs from September the 18th to October the 16th.
