Noises Off & The Lavender Hill Mob
We have always loved farce, the classic chaos of stage comedy, doors opening and closing as the drama descends into total mayhem and for me the form was never better than in Michael Frayn’s Brilliant Noises off. After he watched from the wings a production of his 1970 farce The Two of Us with Richard Briers and Lynn Redgrave and noting that the goings on behind the scenes were funnier than out front, he wrote Noises Off. The original production opened in London in 1982 but forty years on the play returns with a stellar cast including Felicity Kendal, Matthew Kelly and Tracy Ann Obermann. Kendal is of course best known for her iconic role in The Good Life. Kelly has gone on from a career that started in light entertainment to become a seriously respected and award winning TV and stage actor and Oberman’s’s comic timing is second to none.
Noises Off is at Theatre Royal Brighton from 18th – 22nd October.

Staying with comedy and again at Theatre Royal Brighton. Here at Latest TV we have been championing classic British Cinema for many years by screening both the well known and lesser known gems of the genre. One of the top British movies has to be The Lavender Hill Mob and know it is coming to UK stages in a new production starring Miles July and Justin Edwards. Two top comedy actors are taking on the challenge of respectfully re-creating that bullion heist comedy in a stage production that will hopefully be as brilliant as recent stage versions of films like The 39 Steps and Brief Encounter.
It runs from the 21st of November for one week only.
