Local Disabled Filmmaker Gets International Recognition with Debut Feature Documentary

Brighton-based Ella Glendining has a very important story to tell.

A few months ago, Deborah Espect spoke to Ella about her forthcoming feature documentary,  ‘Is There Anybody Out There?’, and its Sundance premiere.

‘Is There Anybody Out There?’ follows filmmaker Ella Glendining’s global search for someone with a body that looks like hers, exploring what it takes to love yourself fiercely as a disabled person in an ableist world.

Since Sundance, Ella’s film has been screened in festivals all over the world, and received a number of awards. Ella herself recently received the prestigious BFI & Chanel Filmmaker Award, which counted Tilda Swinton as one of its jury members!

Now, ‘Is There Anybody Out There?’ is about to be released in cinemas, and on VOD, this Friday 17th November. This includes a local screening on Sunday 19th November, 6pm, at Duke’s at Komedia, followed by a Q&A with Ella. Booking details available here!
