Brighton’s LGBTQIA Film Festival Returns this week!

FilmPride returns in August for another packed programme of thought-provoking short films, documentaries, animations and experimental videos, made by some of the best indie filmmakers world-wide.

FilmPride’s first event will take place at Lighthouse, with the FREE screening of the short documentary Ted & Noel, on Thursday 1st August. The film will be followed by a Q&A with gay rights activist Ted Brown, and director Julia Alcamo.

This documentary short follows LGBTQ+ and civil rights activist Ted Brown, one of the early members of the UK Gay Liberation Front (GLF) where he helped organise the first ever Pride march in London in 1972. 50 years on, Ted has just lost the love of his life, Noel, to dementia. Worse, Noel had experienced severe homophobic abuse from care home staff during his final days, leaving Ted to mount one last campaign for LGBTQ+ rights.

Furthermore, over the Pride weekend on 3rd and 4th August, FilmPride will return to We Are Fabuloso in Preston Park – the heart of the Pride festivities. Find us in the Community Village on Saturday and Sunday!

And for the first time, FilmPride has joined forces with Margate Pride! Join us on Thursday 8th August at the Ark cultural centre for special screening of shorts, followed by a Q&A with filmmakers in attendance.

AND of course – FilmPride will return to Latest TV for its annual TV festival later in August!
