BIG NEWS FOR BRIGHTON & HOVE!

LATEST TV’s SUCCESS RECOGNISED BY OFCOM AS BRIGHTON’S TV CHANNEL CONTINUES TO SHOWCASE THE CITY

Big news for Brighton & Hove as Latest TV has its broadcasting licence renewed by Ofcom until the end of 2034. Ofcom has posted the reasons on its website and we agree with all of them!

Ofcom particularly picked out our investment in local programming and we are proud too of our films now watched by millions across the world. Ofcom also cited the success of our training courses working with the DWP (Department of Work and Pensions) which has seen thousands of people trained and many in jobs. We love to see former staff and our current on-screen staff become household names on TV.

We owe a lot to so many. Particularly we are proud to be partnered with our major sponsor, Brighton Palace Pier and would like to thank Chief Executive, Anne Ackord, for providing Latest TV with a remarkable TV and film-set, because as everyone knows, Brighton is known across the world for Brighton Palace Pier. In addition, many of our Latest Music grassroots gigs now take place on the pier.

Here is an example of a film made on the pier by Latest TV which has been watched by millions:

Brighton Palace Pier is local and global and increasingly so are we. Here is a feature with a Swedish TV channel:

Thank you also to St George’s Church Community Centre for hosting our brilliant TV studios where we cover big breaking news stories and community stories:

It’s a joy to work at these TWO historic landmarks in the city with our crew and cameras at both. We have over 100,000 viewers audited monthly and growing and we want to build on this success.

We are the first local TV licence in the UK to be awarded a new licence and our CEO Bill Smith (@LatestBill) also sits on the board of the national company, Comux, that brings many TV channels to screens across UK and that licence was also renewed.

Latest TV is known not just for local news and community, modern independent films, and classic movies but we are also big on featuring the creative industries – music, theatre, art  and dance, with Andrew Kay previewing and reviewing thousands of great shows at our city’s top venues, (his weekly Theatre Royal review is unmissable) and how about catching The Beatles (almost!) at the Brighton Centre by seeing The Bootleg Beatles on our channel. Meanwhile here is a glimpse of live shows at The Dome:

And in true TV tradition, we have to say thank you to you, the viewer, for watching in such amazing numbers and for coming into our studios with your stories whether you are in a community group or the UK Cabinet!
