Salve! Gaude! – BREMF Consort of Voices, Deborah Roberts (Director)

“Hail! Rejoice! Tudor polyphony from the golden age” is the full title of this fascinating programme of some of the finest, most intricate music of its era, and it is very difficult to sing. The BCV, a choir of twenty-four expert singers, managed convincingly to recreate the sounds of the Tudor Chapels Royal. To aid our concentration through such long religious works, the textures changed between full choir, split choirs, small groups and soloists. The blend of voices was very skilful, their diction clear, the tuning secure. Even with the church crammed full you could hear all the exquisite detail.
