The Preloved Designer Sale is a massive one off event that comes to Brighton just twice a year, and it’s back for one week at the end of October. With a thousand items at every sale, we’re talking more labels than you can shake a designer handbag at! There’s Whistles to Westwood, All Saints to Alexander Mcqueen, Chanel, Isabel Marant, Mulberry, Christian Louboutin and lots more, all at bargain prices. Think Selfridges on a shoestring, with up to 70-90% off your favourite names.

If you like browsing rails of handpicked clothes searching for that ultimate one off bargain, this is the place for you. Plus, you too can make some cash by selling the clothes you no longer wear. From that impulse buy you’ve never worn to the dress you can no longer squeeze into, or the unwanted present, turn those unworn clothes into cash by selling them this October. The Preloved Designer Sale is a large one off event, and it must be the simplest and quickest way to sell the clothes you no longer wear we’ve ever heard of.

Katie Carne, an ex-TV producer, set the sales up a few years ago with the intention of creating an exciting place to shop, but also a easy place to sell the clothes cluttering up your wardrobe. Katie says: “We wanted to make it as hassle free as possible. The reason a lot of people never get round to selling their clothes is because it’s all a bit of a chore and they never find time in their busy schedules, so we’ve set up these sales to make it as simple as possible.”

So here’s how it works. Clear your wardrobe of the pieces you don’t wear, take them down to the Thistle Hotel the week before the sale (collection dates below) where they will be priced with yourself and the team. They then go into the weekend sale, and the following Tuesday you get your money and any clothes back that didn’t sell. They accept high end high street to designer, and take womenswear from clothes (including coats) to shoes and boots, accessories and bags, and they are currently collecting for autumn/winter.

Katie says: “The thing we hear over and over again from clients is how much they love the quick turnaround. One week they bring the pieces in, the next week they have the cash.” It’s a great way of revamping your wardrobe and making some money to go buy new items you are actually going to wear! An item might not be right for you now, but it will be perfect for someone else. People make hundreds – some thousands – of pounds in just one weekend.

And with a client list that includes celebrities and girls who work for the big fashion houses, the weekend sale has something for everyone. Katie says: “Since we are a large event as opposed to a small shop, we can fit in more items, so it means you are more likely to find something that takes your fancy and fits. Hardly anyone ever leaves empty handed as there’s something for everyone.”

Kicking off with a Friday night shopping evening on 31 October, it’s a haven of designer items.

Plus the final day is reduction day, where many pieces are reduced even further, so if you’ve seen something you like but didn’t buy it, it might be worth going back. Happy shopping!

The Preloved Designer Sale is held on Fri 31 Oct 6pm-9pm, Sat 1 Nov 10am-6pm & Sun 2 Nov 11am-4pm, Thistle Hotel, Kings Road, Brighton. To sell clothes, drop off is from Tues 28 Oct – Thurs 30 Oct, 10am-5pm.
