Lord of the Dance: Dangerous Games

Michael Flatley has hung up his tap shoes and handed over the lead role to a protégé. This most recent incarnation of Riverdance once again tries to graft diverse dance styles together: traditional Irish and Tap steps mashed up with with a hyper sexualised ‘modern’ dance language. However, while the choreography was really tight, the grinding twerking movements were not well suited to the dancers and didn’t come across as intended. They sat awkwardly next to the more formal dance choreography and detracted from, instead of highlighting the tremendous skill and talent of these dancers.
