Hurricane Michael
Michael Fish has gone down in history with possibly the most famous weather forecasting blooper, alleging a hurricane wasn’t about to hit the UK just before it did in 1987. But that’s just the beginning of this bonkers one-man performance. “Phish” is written and performed with confident charm by Russell Layton (by way of Michael Caine and Sean Connery). The show’s laconic fictional elements have the crazy feel of an Anchorman for weather forecasters. The play was preceded by a Q&A with the actual Michael Fish, who was also witty and illuminating. A funny forecasting fantasy that’s definitely worth catching during the Fringe Festival when it returns.
