Laughing Horse Comedy Club

Tonight’s show began wrong-footed by the impolite exit of an uppity table of drinkers, before compere Sajeela Kershi had even introduced the first act. More fool them. Fortunately, amiable Jem Brookes brought the room together with his gently paced one-liners, and Kershi built the pace with her increasingly filthy links. Sameena Zerha outdid the antics of the attendant stags with her frank sex gags, while Lewis Bryan’s diversion into surreal whale tales was tonight’s most delightful routine. Lenny Peters’ skilful headline turn appealed across the board, with a vibrant mix of parodies, pot shots and taste-defying asides.
