Brighton Lights: What to do in the city – w/c 15th May
1 Damien Warren-Smith (frontman from Plague of Idiots) adopts the persona of Garry Starr, a disgraced classical actor, out to save theatre by performing everything. Having picked up an award and some nominations at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival – this is well worth a punt.
The Warren: The Burrow, Wed 16, Sat 19 & Sun 20 May (Wed 23) May, 9.15pm, £9.50/8
2 Every time Bridget Christie does a show in Edinburgh, her tickets sell out pretty much instantaneously. Last year she was going to step away from politics, but then Brexit happened, Donald Trump got elected and her escape was thwarted. See the multi award-winning comic on form here.
Brighton Dome Concert Hall, Fri 18 May, 7.30pm, £19/17/10
3 Mixing movies with magic and music, Duo Bogof sit where illusion and reality collide, as cinemagicians. Using a video camera, magic props, and a gift for the theatrical turn. Revealing glimpses of their secret fantasies, dark neuroses and dysfunctional relationship.
Brighton Spiegeltent, Tues 15 May, 9pm, £8/6
4 Throw yourself into the spirit of the Brighton Fringe and partake of the WARMTH pop-up sauna. Inspired by the Finnish savusauna, it’s a mobile wood-fired sauna, candle-lit and löyly filled. With impromptu performances and the sea as your plunge pool.
Brighton Beach – Opposite West Pier Arches, Sat 19-Sun 20 May, 10am–6pm (hourly), £10
