The Osmonds: Up Close & Personal

After 54 years in showbiz, Utah’s favourite family The Osmonds were on the road again for their final tour. But, as soon as Jimmy Osmond’s keytar started shooting flames during thumping opener ‘Crazy Horses’, we realised the brothers weren’t going out quietly. Merrill, Jay and Jimmy’s voices have remained strong, and their instrumental turns on the percussive 70s hits impressed. Of course, there was sentimentality (with a wealth of family film clips), barbershop and balladry, even a brief dose of religion from concept album ‘The Plan’, but the good-humoured banter and energetic performances made for an enjoyably fond farewell.
