The unique song, Chervona Ruta

Chervona Ruta is Ukraine’s song of pride and defiance. 

A beautiful popular song written in 1968 by Vlodymr Ivasyuk, a 19 year old medical student who became a famous songwriter for Ukraine.

It is about a mythical golden flower which is said to turn red for a moment when in full bloom, and if found by a young woman will bring untold happiness in love.

This song became a sensation across Russia and has been performed by many singers in many different genres. Sofia Rotaru has performed the most famous version.
