I Guess If The Stage Exploded
Every time I pass the hat-stand in my hallway I’m supposed to remember Sylvia Rimat, standing on the Basement stage with her head in a lampshade, softly petitioning us in her thick German accent to ‘kindly, in the future, think back to me here…’ Object association was just one of the recall techniques deployed in this one-woman show about the attempt to make a truly memorable performance, which included the commemoration of individual audience members and the presence of a live, impeccably behaved and stunningly beautiful eagle-owl. I rather liked the combination of audacious objective and kookily amateurish execution. But this purely conceptual exercise could have given its audience more of a motive to remember.
