Krystle Warren & The Faculty
This beautiful venue was the ideal setting for an evening of perfectly arranged, jazz-influenced country folk. Krystle’s rich, smoky voice was an ideal foil for the skilful band of mixed strings and trumpet and the opening numbers were up-tempo and jazzy, very much in a Johnny Mercer vein. A country ballad version of a Blake poem was wonderfully soothing, with bowed bass and a singing violin, and at times I was reminded of an orchestral Tracy Chapman with Rufus Wainwright inflections. One of many highlights was a gospel-tinged Gene Clark cover that saw each player take a lead vocal. A blissful evening.

Many thanks for such a glowing review. If I may, the group accompanying Krystle was called The Wagon Tales.
