Events: Brighton Fashion Week

Brighton is a cultural centre for the fashion industry as Brighton Fashion Week returns

Last year Brighton Fashion Week made a successful splash in the press and in the national and international fashion industry. Off the back of 2011’s show, Jess Eaton received extensive media coverage and several models were signed to top London agencies Storm, Premier and Strike, while other team members secured high profile jobs in the industry.

This year’s schedule looks to be bigger and better with many installations, presentations and the all important catwalks, including Brighton Frocks Catwalk Show at All Saints Church in Hove. Brighton embraces its reputation of being forward thinking and socially aware of its counter culture.

Brighton Frocks is a playground for alternative costume designers who will take you on an off-the-wall journey through a world of wickedly wild and wonderful collections, showcased on a prestigious platform.

The Zeitgeist Show, also at All Saints Church, features contemporary designs that infuse stylish sophistication, elegant lines, immaculate tailoring and luxurious fabrics with pioneering aesthetics. It welcomes new, emerging and established designers who are ready to take their vision to the next level.

This is going to be the pinnacle event of BFW and the show will be packed with cutting edge designers. The Ready to Wear Show will feature men’s and women’s boutique, high street and vintage clothing and accessories, produced by new designers and stockists.

Excitingly, this year, there will be an interactive fashion and beauty experience with hair and make-up demonstrations as well as tutorials. There will be displays of grooming products, informative workshops, fashion and networking resources.

Brighton is a great place to host its own fashion week, with its unique diversity, alternative subcultures, ecological awareness, entertainment and cosmopolitan lifestyle. BFW is right at home.

Various venues, Wednesday 30 May–Saturday 3 June, see www.brightonfashionweek.co.uk for further details.
