Events: Nova Festival
Brought to you by the founders of The Big Chill, Nova Festival features groundbreaking and exclusive collaborations from stars of music, visual art, theatre and film. There’s so much art for you to sink your teeth into that it will literally be blowing in the wind.
Nova has surprises waiting around every corner. Racey acting, art displays, hot tubs and nighttime camp fires, hot showers, famous artists, a British pub and seriously good local food and drink. The music lineup includes artists Fink, Jessie Ware, Phenomenal Handclap Band, Norman Jay, Fionn Regan, Crazy P, tUnE-yArDs, The Do, Jono McCleery, Speech Debelle, Kinny,We Were Evergreen, Stumblin’ Slims and The Black Kat Boppers, Mother Feather, The Staves and Chris Coco.
The art on display will be exceptional with pieces from world famous artists, including long time friends photographer Rankin and artist Damien Hirst. The pair have come together in a film collaboration titled ‘Myths, Monsters and Legends.’ The piece is an exploration of imagined narratives and monsters of past civilisations.
Be sure to seek out Doug Fishbone and Friends ‘Adventureland Golf’ where artist Doug has compiled a team of innovative and best-loved British artists to design the country’s first bespoke fine art mini golf course. Each hole is being designed by a celebrated artist, leading to a unique interactive experience. Artists that participated include David Shrigley, Jack Chapman, Brian Griffiths, Gary Webb and Peter Fowler.
Other highlights to watch out for at the festival include ‘Sofar Sessions.’ Sofar Sounds are renowned for putting on unique, one-off gigs in private living rooms. Sofar have programmed their own tent that will be decorated as a living room – all you have to do is find the door.
Family fun includes the Teatro-Saurus high-quality children;’s mask-theatre specialists with stalking poets, prowling postmen and secret surprises. The Land of Bumblyboo is Nova’s dedicated kids’ area with face-painting, treasure-hunting, mask-making and nighttime storytelling with cocoa. There’s certainly plenty to do for everyone at this festival, whether you want to disco, dance, to peer at artwork or watch some great live talent.
