A Spark of Genius: Hove Children’s Short Films Return to Latest TV!
Get ready to see some incredible local talent hit your screens this month! Latest TV is proud to broadcast a brilliant new series of short films written, directed, and created entirely by children from right here in Brighton and Hove.
Produced by Sparks Film School Hove – based at BHASVIC on Dyke Road – the films offer an exciting glimpse into the imaginations of the next generation of filmmakers. Led locally by award-winning filmmaker Craig Ford and qualified teacher Nick Ford, Sparks helps young creators aged 5-18 fall in love with film, supercharge their skills, and boost their confidence from behind the lens.
The new series screening on Latest TV this month showcases the hard work of students who have taken charge of every aspect of production, from storyboarding and scriptwriting to acting and directing.
Craig says: “Films have the power to inspire, entertain and change lives, and I wanted local children to have the chance to experience that from behind the camera, not just in front of a screen. One of the reasons I set up Sparks Hove was to show that filmmaking isn’t just for the elite or for people with industry connections. Creative careers should feel accessible to everyone, regardless of their background, and we’re passionate about giving young people the opportunity to discover what’s possible. At Sparks Hove, we give children the chance to write, direct, act and create their own films while building confidence, creativity and teamwork along the way. Seeing our students grow in confidence and discover talents they never knew they had is the best part of the job. We’re delighted that their work is being showcased on local television and hope it inspires even more young filmmakers to get involved. We run weekly classes every Saturday in Hove for children aged 7-14 and are always happy to welcome new students.”
