Francesca Martinez: What the **** is Normal?

Self-described ‘wobbly’ comedian Francesca Martinez aimed to torpedo the very notion of normality with her latest show. But, despite some gloriously frank jokes about her cerebral palsy and sharp political comment, what really stands out are very relatable stories about first love and becoming comfortable in one’s own skin. Martinez is such a warm performer that the audience couldn’t help but forgive the occasional somewhat cheap jibe and be charmed by her. The message that ‘there’s no such thing as normal’ may not be the most original but rarely has it been made so personal and so passionately engaging.
