Brighton Marina Life – The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning

The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning is Macmillan Cancer Support’s biggest fundraising event. Macmillan ask people across the UK to hold a coffee morning, where donations on the day are made to Macmillan.

Brighton Marina has added a twist: several restaurants and cafés will be holding their own Macmillan coffee mornings with donations from every sale donated to the Macmillan pot. These include 100 per cent of every breakfast sold at Coast 2 Coast Restaurant and 50 per cent contribution from breakfasts sold at Frankie & Benny’s. Café Rouge, Seattle Hotel, Laughing Dog, Café Zio & Gourmet Fish & Chip Co are also supporting with generous donations from sales on Friday 28 September.

Cineworld will be showing the classic movie Breakfast At Tiffany’s at 10.30am and your £10 ticket includes the movie and one refreshment, with 100 per cent proceeds going to Macmillan cancer support.

Retailers will also be taking part in a Green themed window dressing competition: judging will take place at 12.30pm but the windows will be on display all day – so come on down to see how the Marina is flying the green flag for Macmillan.

Della Lamden, an ex-patient of Macmillan who is exceedingly grateful and complimentary about their work, is now one of the big organisers of the Macmillan Biggest Coffee Morning events.
Della says: “What a marvelous idea to combine the popular facilities of the Cineworld in an area where lots of other outlets can get involved.”

Money raised will go towards the local fund which aims to raise £3.7million to build the Sussex Macmillan Cancer Support Centre opposite the Royal Sussex Hospital.

The Sussex Macmillan Cancer Support Centre will be the first of its kind in the county to offer all round support for people affected by cancer in a calm, friendly and welcoming environment.
