Keane
I must say, never have I been so surprisingly impressed as I was tonight. No messing around. Keane hit the stage with thunder. On fire, belting it out to a baying public, beautiful renditions of finely crafted masterpieces from their new album host ‘Strangeland’ hit the air – ‘Day Will Come’, ‘In Your Own Time’, and ‘Silenced By The Night’ got it going. Singer Tom Chaplin’s voice was bouncing around the building like a balloon full of beautiful honesty. Each song an epic. Soft piano ballads from the previous albums which bring a tear to your eye. Emotion seemed to ooze from this band. I forgot quite how many songs Keane have had hits with. All the faves were out tonight. Seemed the whole audience was singing. Knowing every word: ‘Somewhere Only We Know’, ‘Everything’s Changing’, ‘Sovereign light café’, – a Bexhill-on-Sea inspiration. ‘Crystal Ball’ to end the show. The young guys from Battle have stolen the show. Many ups and downs in this band but Keane are definitely back with gusto and determination. A piano-led soft rock outfit this may be but it’s an honest beautiful sound with some classic tunes.
Keane. Nice one.
