Biosphere ‘Here Here’ campaign
On Wednesday 13 March, the Brighton & Hove and Lewes Downs Biosphere Partnership launched a Biosphere Bus in conjunction with its newest partner, the Brighton & Hove Bus Company.  The bus has the slogan “Back Our Biosphere Bid”  along with the HERE HERE symbol .
This is the latest initiative to help raise the profile of the bid for a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve for the area and to encourage people to respond to the public consultation which ends on 22 April.  Roger French, MD of Brighton & Hove Buses, said: “We are pleased to be supporting this exciting initiative and doing our bit to reduce pollution and improve the environment.

GB1 launch
180 guests attended the launch of GB1 on Wednesday 6 March, the brand new restaurant specialising in seafood at the Grand Hotel and Brighton’s newest place to be seen. 

Guests enjoyed a night of champagne, canapés and of course, incredible seafood all caught that day from nearby Shoreham. The menu included Piri Piri sea bass, truffled risotto and turbot with a seafood casserole whilst Matthew vanKan and his seven-piece band provided the entertainment.

GB1 comes as part of the £5million refurbishment of the Grand Hotel.  The refurbishment has included an overhaul of all the Grand’s 201 bedrooms, the 11 conference rooms, the Victoria Bar and the brand new restaurant in the form of GB1. A wellbeing spa is due to open in May.

Sussex business charity hero winners

Winners of the Chestnut Tree House 10th Birthday Business Awards 2013 collected their trophies at an awards ceremony held at the South Lodge Hotel in Horsham on Thursday 14 March.

The evening was hosted by Juice 107.2’s Ambrose Harcourt and TV actress, Julie Graham, both Patrons of Chestnut Tree House. Winners included Mike Holland for Most Innovative Fundraising Idea for the conception and success of the Pay for a Day scheme.

Handbags For Hospices
Mulberry and Gucci were just two of the branded handbags that helped raise hospice funds for The Martlets Hospice. Handbags for Hospices took place at Pub Du Vin Brighton on Thursday 28 February and has helped raise £6,000 for Brighton-based hospice, The Martlets.
The sold out event welcomed 130 guests through the doors and showcased 100 donated bags in a silent auction.

Guests got the chance to bid on a bag that may have previously graced the arm of a glamorous celebrity including Davina McCall, Paloma Faith, Gemma Arterton and Zoe Ball.
